ORANGE CORNERS
Orange Corners (OC) is an initiative of the Kingdom of The Netherlands that aims to increase job prospects for youth between the ages of 18 to 35, with a focus on Africa and the Middle East. The programme is currently active in 17 locations in 14 countries and regions.
Orange Corners strengthens ecosystems for youth entrepreneurship and youth employment and stimulates entrepreneurial mindset of young people through entrepreneurial incubation and acceleration programmes, support for policy development (G2G), entrepreneurship education (K2K), access to finance, skills training and business challenges. In this way, Orange Corners actively contributes to creating sustainable and inclusive economic growth and decent work for all (SDG8). As a public-private initiative, Orange Corners is built on strong involvement of the embassies (and other representations) of the Kingdom of The Netherlands and partners from the private sector.
Orange Corners South Africa (OCSA) aims to empower entrepreneurs, and predominantly black owned businesses and young black people wishing to start a business, through providing an enabling platform to their beneficiaries in urban, rural and underdeveloped areas in South Africa. The OCSA programme consists of two main elements. One is a startup programme supporting grassroots entrepreneurs from township backgrounds including Tembisa and Alexandra. It is aimed at building basic business acumen and social entrepreneurship in the community, and creating sustainable small businesses and social upliftment. The other is a programme aimed at supporting high-growth creative urban entrepreneurs and SMSE’s from the broader Johannesburg area. Through this programme, Orange Corners is growing the number of sustainable job creators by supporting established startups, with a focus on accessing markets and finance.
UNICEF PARTNERSHIP

The focus is on raising awareness of key issues, empowering young people to advocate, and taking policy action to create meaningful and lasting change.
Good nutrition for good immunity campaign in schools
Together with the Ministry of Health and Department of Basic Education, UNICEF and its local partners launched a National Nutrition and National Obesity Week campaign in October 2020 with the theme 'Good Nutrition for Good Immunity.' The campaign encouraged young people to make healthier food choices and stay physically active to prevent NCDs and build up their immunity to fight communicable disease. Video campaigns were created featuring South African celebrities Vuyo Dabula and Bonnie Mbuli as they exercised and cooked healthy meals, setting an example for young people throughout the country.
Campaign materials on good nutrition were distributed to 20,000 schools across all nine provinces. An additional 26,000 posters and infographics were distributed to 4,000 health facilities, spreading the message of healthy eating to young people, health workers and the general population.
