The local context

Overweight and obesity rates are higher in Slovenia than in most EU countries.
A multi-sectoral National Nutrition and Physical Activity Strategy 2015-25 is in place to improve the nutrition and exercise habits of the population and to tackle growing obesity levels.1

Our objectives

To educate and motivate young people to adopt healthier lifestyle behaviours that will reduce the risks of NCDs in later life.

To reach 34,000 young people & train over 16,000 educators, healthcare professionals and other adults.

Our programme

Through the programme, #Curious4Health, a series of engaging and child-friendly digital and interactive learning tools have been created that deliver messages on the importance of a healthy lifestyle.

They help students explore how their bodies work, why physical activity is both necessary and rewarding, and to appreciate the importance of what they eat.

The tools and content have been developed in collaboration with teachers, healthcare professionals and other experts, and is designed to support the national curriculum.

Our achievements

Since the start of the programme, to the end of 2023 we have:

  • reached over 101,000 young people with information on healthy lifestyle behaviours
  • trained over 33,000 Peer Educators
  • and nearly 30,000 healthcare professionals and other adults.

Our partners

The Association’s mission is to raise awareness, inform and educate members, their relatives and the wider community on diabetes and it's possible consequences. The Association makes particular effort to educate and inspire young people to embrace healthy behaviours that will avoid diabetes in the longer term.
