Location

Sabah, Kedah, Klang Valley ( Kuala Lumpur & Selangor), Penang, Malacca.

Timing

From 2022.

The local context

With the rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Malaysia, kidney disease particularly is fast becoming a growing health concern.

As of 2022, 51,256 patients were on dialysis with this figure expected to increase year on year.

If no efforts are made to change this, Malaysia can expect more than 106,000 patients to depend on dialysis by 20401.

Our objectives

To improve the future well-being of young people by increasing their awareness on how to prevent non-communicable diseases (NCDs), with a particular focus on kidney disease.

Our focus

Kidney health and NCD awareness.

Our programme

In 2021, we partnered with the NGO, Hospital Beyond Boundaries, to raise awareness of NCDs and mental health among youths in the lowest income communities.

In 2022, we furthered our commitment to NCD awareness through a partnership with the National Kidney Foundation, focusing on kidney health.

Together with the National Kidney Foundation, the YHP aims to empower and engage young people on disease awareness and prevention, to help them make better health choices for the future.
