The context
It was reported in 2021 that 22% of Palestine’s population is made up of youths aged 18-29 years.1
Despite high levels of education, about 50% of young people with degrees are unemployed. There is also a disparity in job occupancy between genders, with 51% of women being unemployed, compared to only 25% of men.3
Our objectives
The programme aims to support young Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank in bringing their entrepreneurial ideas to life. It will do so by offering a six-month business support programme, where young leaders will have access to state-of-the-art training, coaching, masterclasses, as well as networking opportunities and technical support. The modules will mainly focus on mentorship and developing leadership and innovation-oriented skills. The incubation programme largely seeks out initiatives that are health-driven.
Our programme
In addition to the incubation programme, two other activities will be incorporated: Student Ambassadors and PowHer.
The aim of Student Ambassadors is to increase awareness and inform pupils on entrepreneurship, innovation and active citizenship. Those selected to participate in this activity will be responsible for organising a series of “Activation and Inspiration” talks that will provide realistic information about entrepreneurship. The sessions will be based around “Dare to Talk,” “Dare to Dream” and “Dare to Innovate.”
PowHER is a female-focused empowerment programme, designed to help young women overcome challenges face in starting up a business. The programme will deliver a series of six sessions to build participants’ knowledge and confidence by working with local and international experts.
