Employee Testimonials
"The biggest obstacle I faced in my transition from my military experience to the workplace was the comfort and the need to go outside my chain of command in accomplishing an objective while demonstrating my value to others at the same time. My many mentors and supervisors, at AstraZeneca, helped me overcome these obstacles by getting me outside my comfort zone and helping me focus on effective collaboration and open communication. The AZ Leadership Capabilities have served as my "field manual" for accomplishing these goals while guiding my thinking and actions. They are pivotal."

Real success starts with the right support.
Innovation is at the heart of everything we do at AstraZeneca, from our research of effective new medicines right down to how we run our business. We are an organization that believes genuine job satisfaction comes not just from helping others, but from the way we – as a company – help our employees. And this philosophy extends to our military veterans as well. AstraZeneca is involved with various military groups nationwide that support and make a difference in the lives of our military men and women. Our participation includes:
Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) is a Department of Defense agency and no-cost resource that recognizes supportive employers, informs service members and employers about the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), and provides conflict mediation services. As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions that require extraordinary actions on the part of everyday citizens, ESGR continues to be the informational agency for the employers of citizen warriors. Visit www.esgr.org to learn more about this impactful organization.
In March 2011, 11 founding corporations launched the 100,000 Jobs Mission with the goal of collectively hiring 100,000 veterans by 2020. Since the program’s inception, membership has more than quadrupled to 50 companies, resulting in the collective hiring of more than 12,179 veterans (as of March 31, 2012). Together, coalition members are finding the benefit of working with other like-minded companies that are equally committed to hiring veterans. But that’s not all – they are also sharing lessons learned and best practices in recruiting, hiring, training, assimilating and retaining new employee veterans. The AstraZeneca Military Support Community is one of our many Employee Network Groups. It is a voluntary association comprised of employees who are in the Reserve Forces, have family members in the military or are veterans. The goal is to provide support and build a sense of community among employees with military ties while minimizing the impact of military service on families.
