Responsibilities
Mariam currently serves as Deputy General Counsel, BioPharmaceuticals in the Legal Department at AstraZeneca. In this role she is accountable for leading the global legal team responsible for managing global litigation, including intellectual property litigation, advising on research & development, and global commercial strategies as it relates to the Company’s BioPharmaceuticals business. Mariam leads the legal team members based in both the United States and Europe and is the key legal representative and strategic advisor on several senior management teams, including serving as US General Counsel.
Prior experience
Mariam joined AstraZeneca in 2005 and has served in a variety of roles in the Global Legal Department, and Compliance functions, including serving as Interim VP of HR for the US business. Prior to joining AstraZeneca, Mariam was in private practice and served as a federal law clerk.
